mtDNA v. nuclear DNA
Mitochondrial DNA is present in rootless shed hairs, hair fragments, skeletal remains, and other samples too minimal and/or degraded for STR testing.
Careers
Mitotyping Technologies employs skilled scientists with previous experience in the handling of DNA, especially DNA extraction, PCR amplification, and DNA sequencing.
We follow DAB guidelines for the prerequisite academic degrees, coursework and experience for our examiner staff. In addition, examiners must have a Ph.D. or master's degree in a biology-, chemistry- or forensic science-related field. Technicians must have a master's degree or bachelor's degree in a biology-, chemistry- or forensic science-related field. We provide education and training to new technician and examiner hires, with training lasting from two to six months depending on the position.
